How to manage classes from the Hallow Admin Dashboard (For Schools)

Classes let you organize your students into groups and assign them Hallow content to complete — like homework, but for prayer.

Creating a class

  1. Go to the Classes tab in your school's Admin Dashboard. School Admins can see every class in the school; teachers only see classes they belong to (and are automatically added to any class they create).

  2. Select + Add in the top right of the Classes list.

  3. Enter a Class Name (e.g. "Religion 6th Grade") and a description (e.g. term/room, like "Fall 2025 — Room B2"), then choose a class image.

  4. Select Add Class.

  5. To roster students into the class, open the class and select + Add on the Roster tab. This opens a member search where you can check off students from your school's roster and select Add [N] Members. If no students have been rostered to the school yet, roster them first under the school-level Roster tab (this must be done by your school's admin).

  6. To remove a student from a class roster, select the menu next to their name and choose Remove From Class.

By default, all school admins are automatically added as staff on a new class. Additional staff — like co-teachers or IT personnel — can also be added, whether or not they're school admins. Being added as staff gives visibility into that class only; it doesn't change anyone's own Hallow account type or app access.

Creating an assignment

  1. From the class's Assignments tab, select + Add.

  2. Search for and select a Collection (e.g. "Story of a Soul," "Saints Alive").

  3. Check off the individual sessions within that collection you'd like to assign (e.g. Introduction, Chapter 1).

  4. Set a due date for each selected session, or toggle on Use same due date for all to apply one date to every session at once.

  5. Select Add [N] Assignments.

Assignments are due at 11:59 PM in the assigning teacher's time zone on the selected date.

A few important things to know:

  • Assignments are given to an entire class at once — there's currently no way to assign different content to individual students within a class.

  • If a class includes even one student on a Kids Profile, only Kids Library content will show up as an option when creating an assignment. This is because the assignment needs to work for every student in the class.

  • If a student is converted to a Kids Profile after an assignment is created, they will not see that assignment.

Where students see assignments

Assignments appear in an Assignments carousel on the student's Home screen — there's no separate assignments tab and no notification. Students don't need to open the assignment from the carousel to complete it; finishing the session from anywhere in the app after the assignment was created marks it complete.

Viewing completions

From the class's Assignments tab, select an assignment to see a % Completed progress bar at the top, along with a per-student table showing each student's name and their Completed on date/time (left blank if not yet completed).

A few current limitations to know about:

  • Viewing completions broken down by individual student across an entire assignment history isn't available yet.

  • Large rosters may not display all students on one screen — if a teacher reports only seeing part of their roster (commonly cutting off partway through the alphabet), this is a known limitation our team is aware of. Please flag it to your Success Lead if you run into it.

FAQs

Can I assign different content to different students in the same class?

Not currently — assignments go out to the whole class at once.

What happens if my class has a mix of Kids Profile and Standard Account students?

Only Kids Library content will be available to select when creating an assignment, since it needs to work for every student in the class.

My students say they can't find their assignment. What should I check?

Have them check the Assignments carousel on their Home screen. If a student was recently converted to a Kids Profile, they won't see assignments created before that conversion. If neither explains it, please reach out to your Success Lead.

Can more than one teacher manage the same class?

Yes — schools can add multiple staff members to a class, not just one teacher. School admins are added automatically when a class is created, and additional staff can be added afterward.
