How to Invite Members to Your Friends and Family Subscription

How to share your invite link and add members to your Family Plan.

Once you've purchased a Friends and Family Plan, you can invite up to 5 additional people (for a total of 6 people including yourself) to join your plan at no extra cost.

Only the owner of the Friends and Family Plan should invite members or request members to be added to their plan.


Two Ways to Invite Members to Your Family Plan

There are two methods to invite people to your Friends and Family Plan:

  1. Invite members by email

  2. Share your invite link directly with friends & family

Choose the method that works best for your situation.

Method 1: Invite Members by Email

This method lets you send the invite to specific people by entering their email address directly at hallow.com/settings/family.

👉 If someone created their account using only a phone number, they can still accept the invitation sent to their email, but they'll need to log in with their phone number as usual. They also have the option to add an email address to their account by going to the app’s settings and following the steps outlined here.

How to send the invitation to new members by email:

  1. Log in with your credentials

  2. Under the Members section, click the Add Member button

  3. Choose which type of member you're adding:

    • Friend - Invite a friend

    • Family Member - Invite any adult member of your family

    • Child - Create a child account for one of your children who is under the age of 16 *Note: there are additional steps for this option. See below.

  4. Enter their email address in the email field

  5. Click Send Invite to send an email with your invite link inside

  6. They will receive instructions to join your Family Plan

Adding a Child Account

👉 About Child Accounts:

Child accounts are for children under 16 years old. You must be the parent or guardian to create a child account.

By creating a child account, you confirm you are the guardian of this child, consent to them having a Hallow account, and agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

When you select Child, you'll need to provide:

Parent Details:

  • Parent first name

  • Parent last name

  • Parent email address

Child Details:

  • Child first name

  • Child birth date (MM/DD/YYYY)

  • Child email address (optional)

  • Password for the child account

After entering all details, click Create Account to add the child to your Family Plan.


Method 2: Share Your Family Plan Invite Link

This is the easiest method and works for everyone, including those with phone-only accounts.

How to Get Your Family Invite Link

  1. Log in using the same credentials you use for your Hallow account

  2. You will see your family invite link displayed on the page

  3. Click Copy Link

  4. Share the link with anyone you want to add to your family plan

You can share your invite link through:

  • Email

  • Text message

  • Social media (Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.)

  • Any other method you prefer


About Your Family Invite Link

👉 Only the owner of the Friends and Family Plan should invite members or request members to be added to their plan.

Your family invite link has special features that make sharing easy:

  • Universal link: The same link works for all family members. You don't need separate links for each person.

  • No expiration: Your link doesn't expire.


How Family Members Join Using Your Invite Link

👉 If the person you're inviting already has an active individual Hallow subscription, they MUST cancel it BEFORE clicking your Family Plan invite link. If they don't cancel first, they will get an error and won't be able to join.

After canceling, they can click your invite link to join the Family Plan.

👉 For International Users:

When accepting a Family Plan invite, you must create your account using an email address (not a phone number). Phone-number-only account creation is not supported for international users.

They'll see two options:

  1. Sign Up & Accept (if they don't have a Hallow account yet)

  2. Already have an account? Log in (if they already use or downloaded Hallow)


For people who don't have a Hallow account yet

👉 Important: Don't subscribe or start a trial

When joining a Family Plan, new users should ONLY create an account. They should NOT subscribe or start their own trial. The Family Plan invitation gives them access automatically.

If they accidentally start a trial, they must cancel it and click your invite link again.

  1. Click the invite link

  2. Click Create an account

  3. Choose a sign-up method:

    • Email address

    • Phone number (US users only)

    • Google Sign-In

    • Apple ID Sign-In

  4. Complete the account creation

  5. You will be automatically added to the Friends and Family plan

  6. You can now access all Hallow premium content 🎊


For people who already have a Hallow account

👉 If you have a current trial or subscription and you wan to join someone's family plan, you won’t be able to join until you cancel your current plan first.

After canceling, you can click your invite link to join the Family Plan.

  1. Make sure to cancel any existing individual Hallow subscription

  2. Click the invite link

  3. Click Already have an account? Log in

  4. Log in using the existing credentials:

    • Email address

    • Phone number

    • Google Sign-In

    • Apple ID Sign-In

  5. They will be automatically added to your Friends and Family plan

  6. They can now access all Hallow premium content


Understanding Family Plan Member Limits

How many members can I invite?

Your Friends & Family Plan includes you plus 5 additional members (6 total).

⚠️ Be mindful when sharing your invite link:

When you share your Family Plan invite link, only the first 5 people to accept will be able to join.

  • If you share the link with 10 people, only the first 5 who click and accept will successfully join your plan

  • Once 5 members have joined, the invite link will no longer work for anyone else

  • Invitations do not expire, so your invitees can accept at any time

💡 Tip: Share your invite link only with the specific people you want on your plan to avoid confusion or disappointment.

Can I see who has accepted my invitation?

Currently, there is no "pending invitation" status. You'll only see members in your Family Plan settings once they've successfully accepted and joined.

💡 Tracking Tip: Since pending invitations aren't visible in the app, keep your own list of who you've invited and ask them to let you know once they've joined. This helps you track your available spots.


Removing Members from Your Family Plan

To remove someone from your Friends and Family plan:

  1. Find the member you want to remove in the Members section

  2. Click the minus (−) icon next to their name

  3. Confirm the removal

👉 What happens when you remove someone

Once removed, that person will lose access to premium Hallow content immediately. They will need to subscribe individually or be invited to another Family plan to regain access to premium features.
