This article answers common questions about the Friends & Family Plan, including how to purchase, invite members, manage accounts, and understand billing.


About the Friends & Family Plan

What is the Friends & Family Plan?

The Friends & Family Plan is our best subscription deal, allowing you to share Hallow with up to 6 people (you plus 5 others) at a discounted rate.

My group is larger than 6 — can I still add them to a Family Plan?

Our Friends & Family Plan includes up to 6 people and this cannot be adjusted.

If you would like to add a larger number of people to the plan, we recommend having two members start two separate Friends & Family Plans. It's our most heavily discounted plan, so you'll still save much more compared to individual plans for each person!

How do I purchase or upgrade to a Friends & Family Plan?

The Friends & Family Plan can only be purchased or upgraded through the Hallow website, not through the mobile app.

Can I purchase a Friends & Family Plan if my account is under my phone number?

Whether you can purchase a Friends & Family Plan with a phone-based account depends on your location.

For customers located in the United States:

  • ✅ Yes, you can purchase a Family Plan with a phone-based account

  • ✅ You can also share your Family Plan invite link with phone-based accounts

For international customers:

  • ❌ No, you cannot upgrade to a Family Plan with a phone-only account

If your individual account is linked to a phone number, you'll need to add an email first. Please follow the steps provided here:

Can I use Apple's Family Sharing to share Hallow with my family members?

Apple's Family Sharing feature is not supported by the Hallow app. However, you can sign up for our Friends & Family subscription that allows you to share Hallow with up to six family members.

To get started, go to https://hallow.com/family-plans/to log in, click the family button, and follow the prompts to upgrade.

How do I invite people to my Friends & Family Plan?

There are two ways to add members to your Friends & Family Plan:

  • Method 1: Share your invite link

  • Method 2: Add members directly by email

Can members of my Friends & Family Plan see my routines and intentions?

No, members of your Friends & Family plan will not see your prayer activity, routines, intentions, favorites, or any other personal information. Each person's Hallow account remains completely private.

We do offer ways to share your Hallow experience with others in the app. If you do want to share your activity and intentions with the other members of your plan, you can opt-in and choose to use those features to do so.

Can I merge my account with a Family member?

No. Accounts on a Family Plan should not be merged.

Merging is a permanent action that cannot be undone. All activity from one account (prayer progress, reflection notes, favorites, etc.) would be combined into the other account, and the second account would be permanently deleted.

Each family member should keep their own account. Once you have upgraded to a Family Plan, you can add each member by sharing your invite link or using the Add Member button:

Account & progress

Will I lose my streak, favorites, and journals when I upgrade to a Family Plan?

No. You won't lose any of your progress as long as you upgrade with the same email or login method associated with your individual account.

Billing & refunds

Can I get a refund for my individual subscription if I join someone's Friends & Family Plan?

No. Individual subscriptions are not refunded when joining a Family Plan.

For the Family Plan owner: If the owner of a family plan is upgrading before their individual plan is complete, their new plan will be prorated to take into account the remainder of the original subscription that they already paid for. This only applies to the owner of the family plan.

For family members joining the plan: It is up to the owner whether they choose to gift the subscription to the other members or ask them to contribute to covering the cost.

Either way, if the the added members joining the plan have individual subscriptions of their own, they must decide whether they want to wait until the end of their billing cycle to join, or join mid-cycle.

Please note: When joining someone else's family plan, you must cancel your current subscription first or you will run into an error.
