We know that most people already receive more emails than they would like. If you received an email about Hallow policy updates and weren't expecting it, you might be wondering why.
Whether you've unsubscribed from Hallow's marketing emails, deleted the app, or cancelled your subscription, this article explains why you may still receive these important account communications and what they mean.
If you received an email about Hallow policy updates, it's because your email address is connected to a Hallow account. Policy update emails are essential account communications that let you know when we've updated things like our Terms of Use or Privacy Policy.
Receiving one of these emails does not mean you have a paid subscription or that you've been charged.
Below, we'll explain why these emails are sent, why you can't unsubscribe from them, and answer some common questions.
Why does Hallow send policy update emails?
As a Hallow user, you may receive emails from us about updates to Hallow's policies.
We commit to notifying all Hallow members through email when our terms of service and privacy policy are updated. This is required by law, and for that reason, emails about policy updates don’t provide a way to unsubscribe.
We also take your data protection and privacy seriously. Sensitive information, such as journal entries and prayer requests, is encrypted, and we at Hallow never sell our users' personal data.
If you have unsubscribed from marketing emails in the past, you will remain opted-out of those emails. Policy update emails are separate from those communications and are only sent when necessary.
While you can't opt out of emails about transactions you’ve made, updates to our Terms of Use, or when required by law, we try to limit how many we send, while following our commitment to transparency. If you no longer wish to receive any emails from Hallow, you can delete your account entirely.
FAQ
Does receiving a policy update email mean I have a paid Hallow subscription or that I've been charged?
No. Receiving a policy update email simply means that your email address is connected to a Hallow account.
You can have a free Hallow account and still receive important account and policy notifications. Receiving this email does not mean you have an active subscription or that you've been charged.
If you're unsure whether you have an active subscription, you can check your subscription settings or contact Hallow Support, and we'll be happy to help.
I received more than one policy update email. Does that mean I have multiple accounts?
If you received policy update emails at different email addresses, it's possible that you have more than one Hallow account.
If you received multiple copies at the same email address, it doesn't necessarily mean you have duplicate accounts. It could have been a mistake by our email sender. If you're unsure, contact Hallow Support and we'll be happy to look into it.
Can I unsubscribe from policy update emails?
We know it can be frustrating to receive emails you'd rather not get. However, policy update emails are different from marketing emails. So, you cannot unsubscribe from policy update emails.
These emails contain important information about your Hallow account, including updates to our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, or other legally required notices. Because they're considered essential account communications, they can't be unsubscribed from.
If you've unsubscribed from marketing emails, you'll continue to stay unsubscribed from promotional communications. You'll only receive essential emails, such as policy updates, transaction receipts, security notifications, or other important account communications.
If you no longer wish to receive any emails from Hallow, you'll need to permanently delete your account.
I don't remember creating a Hallow account. Why did I receive this email?
Receiving a policy update email means your email address is connected to a Hallow account.
It's possible you created an account some time ago and no longer remember doing so. For example, you may have signed up using your email address, Apple Sign-In, or Google Sign-In.
Receiving this email does not mean you've been charged or that you have a paid subscription.
If you'd like help identifying the account connected to your email address, please contact Hallow Support.
Does a policy update change, cancel, or renew my subscription?
No. A policy update doesn't automatically start, cancel, renew, or otherwise change your subscription.
Your subscription will continue according to its existing billing and renewal terms unless you make changes through the platform where you originally subscribed.
Does receiving a policy update email mean I'm entitled to a refund?
Not automatically.
Receiving a policy update email doesn't cancel your subscription or make you automatically eligible for a refund.
Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances of your purchase and the refund policies of the platform where you subscribed.
I deleted the Hallow app. Why am I still receiving emails?
Deleting the Hallow app from your device doesn't delete your Hallow account or cancel an active subscription.
Your account can remain active even if the app is no longer installed, which means you may still receive essential emails like policy updates.
If you'd like to stop receiving all emails from Hallow, you'll need to permanently delete your account.
Will I continue receiving marketing emails?
Not if you've already unsubscribed from them.
Your marketing email preferences remain unchanged, so if you've opted out of promotional emails, you'll stay unsubscribed.
You'll only continue receiving essential account communications, such as policy updates, transaction receipts, security notifications, or other legally required emails.
